Message from WFiC - calling players for international trials

FIWFA EUROPE NATIONS CUP 2026

Dear Walking Football Club.

After a credible appearance by the over 50s men at the FIWFA World Nations Cup in Spain last month, FIWFA has invited Walking Football in Cyprus (WFiC) to take part in the Euro Nations Cup in autumn 2026. (date/venue to be announced in January) It will be a fantastic opportunity to again showcase the talent and enthusiasm we have here on the island with the addition of over 60s and over 70s men’s teams.

We are therefore writing to all the walking football Clubs, that we know of, asking to please share this with your eligible players.

WFiC intend to hold trials starting Sunday 8th February 2026, 17:00 – 19:00 at AM Fair Game Sports Centre, Tremithousa, 8270 and are inviting men aged 50 and over to come along. They must be able to prove they are a Cyprus citizen or a resident for at least 5 years. Please ask interested players to contact exsec@wfic.com.cy by18th January 2026.

If you know of any men or women recovering from cancer who would like to play against England’s Kicking Cancer team early next year, please ask them to also get in touch.

Thank you.

WFiC League Matchday 3, 04/01/26

ENAD Panthers squad:

Sorry no photo this time because late opening of the ground meant we had to focus on warm-up.

Match 1 v Lynx. Won 2-0

ENAD Panthers started slowly and the action was disrupted by fouls but ENAD Panthers pressed more as the half progressed. Both sides had chances but it remained goalless. Mario came on for Matt. HT 0-0.

Petros came on for Dave and Steve for Alan. The game continued with chances at both ends. It seemed that every ENAD player had shots but Antonis still had to make a fine save. Match 2 v Tigers. Won 2-0

This was a tight first half but there was much good football by ENAD Panthers and Andreas scored. Petros on for Dave. HT. 1-0.

ENAD Panthers squad below

Standing: Kostas, Dave, Alan, Petros, Nikou, Andros

Kneeling: Mario, Tony HG, Ian, Tony A

Match 1 v Lynx. Won 2-0

ENAD Panthers exerted pressure from the start and Dave eventually scored to make it 1-0. Lynx got into the match and forced Tony A into a great save. ENAD continued to dominate and make chances and we missed a penalty. The first half was end-to-end and Lynx did well to keep ENAD at bay despite temporarily losing a player to the sin bin. Tony A saved ENAD again just before half time. HT ENAD 1 Lynx 0.

The second half saw both teams making numerous chances. Andros scored a decisive goal from a wide angle to make it 2-0. Lynx were close to losing another player for accumulated fouls. Towards the end ENAD dominated again and deservedly won. FT ENAD 2 Lynx 0. Goals Dave, Andros. Player of the Match Andros.

Match 2 v Tigers. Won 2-0

This was very cagey from the start with both teams threatening but making relatively few chances. Eventually Kostas scored from a wide angle after a great passing move from Andros’ free kick. 1-0. Tigers made chances and Tony saved ENAD a few times before Mario scored the second. HT 2-0.

In the second half both teams made chances. ENAD were disrupted by a blood injury to Alan which meant he had to leave the field for a few minutes. ENAD were under pressure at times but saw it out to win. FT ENAD 2 Tigers 0. Goals Kostas, Mario. Player of the Match Tony A.

Match 3 v Pumas. Drew 0-0

ENAD started with a much changed team in an extremely tight match and Tony A had to make several saves. HT 0-0

The match continued with both teams looking like scoring but failing to finish. Late substitutions helped ENAD get on top with Andros always looking dangerous but it ended in stalemate. FT 0-0. Player of the Match Tony A.

Three ENAD players attended (Ian, Nikou & Tony HG). "It's not easy as it looks" and "There's a lot to think about".

Cyprus Red Cross Society, 75th anniversary, 14/11/25, Municipal Cultural Centre, Polis

Several players attended an event to mark this landmark event, promoted by our main sponsor Kyriacos Cleanthous. There was an excellent and informative talk about the rich variety of work carried out by the CRCS and high quality catering, with spare food donated to CRCS's clients. We are proud that Mario made a donation to CRCS on behalf of the club to support their valuable work.

WFiC League Matchday 1, 09/11/25

The morning started with a minute’s silence for remembrance day followed by a presentation to Malcolm of PUWFC for achieving tournament referee status.

ENAD Panthers squad below:

Standing: Dave, Matt, Alan, Andros, Petros, Tony HG

Kneeling: Mario, Steve, Ian, Tony A

This was an eventful first round of league matches. The team had challenges to overcome and results were mixed but we can take pride in our performances, as well as the levels of endeavour and behaviour.

Match 1 v Lynx

Won 2-1

We played an experimental formation and included two debutants from the start (congratulations to Steve & Matt). The team grew into the game and deserved to win, Andros scoring with the last kick of the match. Goals: Matt 1, Andros 1. Player of the match: Andros.

Match 2 v Pumas

Drew 0-0

This was an eventual game with a number of fouls in the first half which led to an on-pitch argument; after which a Pumas player was withdrawn to the bench and Andros was dismissed (later rescinded by the referee, who sought independent witness testimony). Despite being a man down for more than half the match, ENAD Panthers worked tirelessly and kept a tight formation, to secure a goalless draw. Player of the match: Dave.

Match 3 v Tigers

Lost 2-3.

Andros had to be withdrawn in the first minute, unable to continue because of injury sustained in match 2. It was an end to end, competitive contest in which ENAD Panthers were unfortunate to concede two first half goals (one a deflection). The team fought back brilliantly and scored with a turn and shot by Mario and Dave’s equaliser with the last kick of the half. The second half was tight and Tony made several great saves; but Tigers scored the decisive goal. Goals: Mario 1, Dave 1. Player of the match: Tony A.

Thanks to WFiC, the officials and Fair Game for organising the day and getting the league off to a great start.

ENAD Panthers vs Cyprus (21 Sept 2025)

Unbeaten v National Team

ENAD Panthers v Cyprus, 21/09/25, at Fair Game

ENAD played two matches to help the national team’s preparations for the World Nations Cup in Spain in October 2025.

Match 1. Result: ENAD 1 Cyprus 1. 20 mins each way. Our player manager Mario scored for the national team before Andros equalised for ENAD. Ian pulled off a number of great saves in goal and the whole team worked hard in a very tight game.

Match 2. Result: ENAD 2 Cyprus 0. 10 mins each way. Andros and Takis scored the goals. Injuries meant a reshuffle for ENAD and the reduced squad was strong enough to achieve a great win. We were grateful to goalkeeper Dave from the Cyprus squad who had an excellent game for us.

It was a good display of the strength of the club with thirteen players across the two squads. ENAD: Andreas, Andros, Dave, Ian, Nikou, Patroclus, Takis and Tony. ENAD players in Cyprus squad: Alan, Antonio, Kostas, Mario and Petros.

One ENAD!

ENAD Panthers vs Polis & Latchi Lions (11th Jan 2024)

Result - 0-0 Draw

A big thank you firstly again for the warm Hospitality given by Polis & Latchi Lions 👏👏

The game was played on a wet windy night with the pitch surface being wet which resulted in a difficult game for both teams. The first half was a close game with both teams creating chances & we did have the ball in the net but was ruled out for encroachment into the area. Our keeper making some good saves with the wet ball.

We made some team changes in the second half & altered our line up in an attempt to win the game , but again both teams had chances & both keepers made good saves. The game was marred by a bad injury to
Alan Michael Poulter who had to be substituted. The game ended 0-0 and for the Enad Panthers, Petros Petrou was awarded the Man of the match award.

A big shout out to the referee & line person Tony & Kim who ensured the game was played fairly & both also braved the elements 👏👏👏

A big thank you to Philpos for ensuring we were well watered & fed after the game
👏👏👏👏

ENAD Panthers vs Polis & Latchi Lions

8th December 2023

A big shout out to Polis & Latchi Lions WFC for there warm hospitality at last nights friendly game, the game was played in great spirits with both teams giving there all during the game.

We played 1 game of two 20 minute halves.

The first half was a tight game with the Polis Lions taking a 1-0 lead early on in the first half, there goal scorer was Mark Poultney with a well taken goal after a mistake from the Enad Panthers. Polis Lions had the better of the first 12 minutes & played so good football. Enad Panthers re grouped & made a few changes & started to grow into the game this was culminated with Mario Trinci scoring a well taken goal just before the first half ended.

Enad Panthers made two changes, switching Steve T & Petros Petrou for Ian woods & Keith Warner. The second half began with the Panthers taking control of the game & this was the case after 7 minutes of the second half from a corner taken by Dave Jennings & Keith Warner scoring a well placed goal beating the Polis Lions goal keeper who had a great game saving many chances. The Panthers kept up the pressure on The Polis Lions defense & this resulted in a third goal taken well by Dave Jennings making the score 3-1.

One again, a Big Shout out goes to the Polis lions for a great game played in great spirits. We look forward to returning to the Lions before the start of the Keith Dutfield League for further friendly fixtures in preparation for both teams for the start of the league.

Dave Jennings was awarded by The ENAD Panthers manager Mario Trinci the Man of the Match trophy we award after every game. Well deserved.

ENAD Panthers vs Aphrodite

5th November 2023

Firstly, thanks to Mickey Bartley & his team for giving us such a warm welcome & laying on a fantastic spread & free Beer after the game, a massive shout out to everyone who helped out with this 👏👏👏👏

We played 2 games of fifteen minute halves, both games were played in great spirit & a big shout out to the game’s referee & Linemen who played to the WFF rules & helped players out with some of their decisions 👏👏👏👏

Game 1 (ENAD Panthers 0, Aphrodite Wanderers 1)

A very tight affair as Enad tried to come to grips with the smaller pitch but also a well drilled Aphrodite wanderers team, the game hinged on a single goal to Aphrodite that had a slight deflection that beat our keeper Antoniou Antonis who did a fantastic job during this game. We have been working on a formation structure & you could see that this help our team.

Game 2 (ENAD Panthers 1, Aphrodite Wanderers 2)

A much tighter game. Enad changed our goal keeper & brought on Ian Wood, who also had a fantastic game including saving a penalty, our back line continued where they left off in the first game having both had fantastic games & Alan Poulter kept the Aphrodite striker well contained. Petros Petrou played well in midfield & for me this was Petros best game. Steve T also had a great game his communication was effective & helped us Panthers out. Dave Jennings had a great game and scored our only goal from a penalty. Our striker Mario Trinci was unfortunate in having his penalty saved.

Enad Panthers Team

Keepers: Antoniou Antonis. Goal keeper. Man of the Match Ian Wood. Goal keeper

Defense: Alan Michael Poulter. Right back. Captain Steve T. Left back Steve M. Left back.

ENAD Panthers vs Paphos

27th October 2023

Result 2-2

A well played game, with our referees keeping us to the rules and proper walking footballs resulted in a 2-2 draw, which seems a fair result for both teams. Both ENAD goals scored by Dave Jennings, Alan Poulter in defence was our man of the match, closely followed by our stand in goalkeeper Neo Neocleous.

Thanks to Paphos for hosting and to the referees for keeping us all honest.

ENAD Panthers vs Paphos

May 2023

Result 2-0

Paphos match in early 2023, one of the first games as the ENAD Panthers.

Having lost a player early in the game, Paphos won the game 2-0, however this has provided a valuable learning experience for the teams.
